Over 50 years ago, John and Sidney Maxwell founded a company called The Ski Hut, in Wilton Center, as a way to share their family's passion for skiing with the community. In 1983 their son, Jack Maxwell, changed the name to Outdoor Sports Center and moved the shop to 80 Danbury Road in Wilton, Connecticut. The name and location change was part of Jack's dream to share his enthusiasm and philosophy; to help grow and nurture respect for the outdoors by using it as a playground. Today, the shop is still 100-percent family owned, many of the staff have been around for 15 years or more and it's proud to have customers that can still recall the "Ski Hut" heritage. Since then, Outdoor Sports Center has expanded into selling much more than skis, now offering a full range of outdoor apparel and footwear from kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddle boards to bikes and car racks, camping and climbing and a full bike and ski workshop.
The shop's commitment remains to promote a friendly and knowledgeable community, provide only the best gear and service and to always promote awareness of outdoor resources.
